In our upcoming lecture, dr. Gertjan Plets will elaborate on how cultural heritage in Siberia has been used by different opposing parties – the Russian Federation, ethnic minorities, and gas companies – since the collapse of the Soviet Union to cement ethnic relations.
In doing so, this lecture provides a more nuanced understanding of conflicting notions of ethnicity and heritage, thereby touching upon the course on Identity for students of the Conflict Studies minor. Of course, students from other disciplines are very welcome to attend this event as well!
What: Lecture on the framing of ethnicity open to everyone!
When: 19:30 – 21:00, Friday, December 19
