History

It all started when a group of enthusiastic Conflict minor students embarked on a field trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2011, the idea of organizing more conflict-relevant activities led to the start of a conflict studies study association.

CS Ubuntu was officially founded on 9 June 2011. Its initial aim was to provide additional activities to the curriculum of the minor and master programme conducted by the Centre for Conflict Studies. This is still the case, with CS Ubuntu keeping close links with both the minor Conflict Studies and the master Conflict Studies and Human Rights at Utrecht University. Additionally, we have widened our approach so as to include a broader range of activities and partnerships in the field of conflict studies and human rights, whilst continuing to cherish our collaboration with the Centre for Conflict Studies.
